May is the ideal time to visit Tybee Island with warm weather and lots of sunshine. It also marks the start of the family vacation season with weekend crowds increasing through the month, and especially large numbers of visitors around the Memorial Day Weekend.
Tybee Island events in May usually include the SCAD Sand Arts Festival sand sculpture contest, the Tybee Island Tour of Homes, and the Tybee Beach Bum Parade. There is also a weekly farmers market at the lighthouse, and there are often local music and other performances scheduled through the month too.
